Message from Dr.Norton Sayeg

It is my privilege and a great pleasure to invite you to participate in the

XVIII WORLD CONGRESS OF GERONTOLOGY

which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from June 26 to 30, 2005.

Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful cities in the world (The Marvelous City) and I believe that this will be a Congress that you will never forget. RIO 2005 is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn and teach at the same time, to meet old friends and also to make new international connections. We are working, four years ahead, in order to offer you a solid and provocative Scientific Program, planned in a way that will allow you to work very hard but also with enough time to enjoy the Rio and its culture, the beaches and several other social activities.

On the other hand, our major concern is the quality of science and the Congress Theme.

NEW PERSPECTIVE: HELTHY AGING IN THE XXIst CENTURY

"Building Bridges Between Research and Practice"

challenges us to find ways to act right now, using the research reliable findings from serious studies to improve the quality of life of the elderly population. Besides the leading experts, you will have enough time to prepare and submit your paper showing to the world how you and your community are facing the gerontological and geriatrics problems in your country.

I am confident that the Congress will help us, in a pleasant atmosphere, to start answering some crucial questions, like how to really improve the quality of life based on science. Please just send me a message to <nortonsa@uol.com.br> saying that you are thinking about joining us in 2005 and we will send you all information to make your travel as pleasant as possible.

See you in RIO – 2005.

Norton Sayeg M.D.
