Biography & Research:
Kiyotaka Nakamagoe, MD, PhD., has served as assistant professor in the Department of Neurology, Division of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tsukuba at Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan since 2006. He graduated from the University of Tsukuba School of Medicine in 1992. He studied ocular movement control in the brainstem, such as the neural integrator and paramedian tract (PMT) neurons, and he obtained his PhD from the University of Tsukuba in 2000. He was awarded the Excellent Investigator Award in the Doctoral Program of Medical Sciences, University of Tsukuba, and the Japanese Neuro-Ophthalmology Society's Academic Award for Excellence. He has been studying on central nervous system damage due to organoarsenic poisoning, such as ocular movement disorders since 2006. Presently, he has been studying on vestibular impairment in dementia patients, such as those with Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementia. He is an editorial member of the Japanese Neuro-Ophthalmology Society and an associate editor of Journal of Alzheimer's Disease. He received a scientific research grant from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan.
