Biography & Research:
Dr Michele Callisaya is a Senior Research Fellow - University of Tasmania, Australia and Clinical Lead physiotherapist in Aged Care and Rehabilitation at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania. She completed a PhD from the University of Tasmania in 2010 and was awarded an Australian National Health and Medical Research Council Early Career Fellowship from 2012-2015 at Monash University to examine the relationship between brain ageing, physical function and falls. In 2015 she moved back to the University of Tasmania to take up an internationally competitive Select Foundation Senior Research Fellowship to set up her own Brain Ageing group whose overall aim is to investigate 1) the interplay between brain ageing and gait and 2) novel ways of preserving cognitive and physical function in older people at risk of dementia.
