Biography & Research:
Neurological diseases, especially neurodegenerative diseases, ramify within the brain’s connectivity network. Whether it is Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, epilepsy or general dementias, each has a highly stereotyped and orderly progression through the brain. My laboratory is trying to uncover the network-based rules that govern such progression. In the process we might be able to achieve the computational mapping of brain disease spread. When completed, we expect to target a fully specified computational platform for automated diagnosis, prognosis, tracking and risk assessment of all neurodegenerative diseases, starting with Alzheimer’s.
