Biography & Research:
Ciro Isidoro, D.Sc. and M.D., is Professor of General Pathology and head of the Laboratory of Molecular Pathology and Nanobioimaging at the Department of Health Sciences, Università del Piemonte Orientale (Novara, Italy). He obtained the Laurea degree of Doctor in Biological Sciences (D.Sc.) with Summa cum Laude from the Università di Torino (Italy) and the Laurea degree of Doctor in Medicine and Surgery (M.D.) with Summa cum Laude from the Università del Piemonte Orientale (Novara, Italy). He was PhD fellow-Assistant Researcher at the Institut fuer Pathobiochemie, Westfaelish Wilhems Universitaet Muenster (Germany). He was awarded Professor Honoris Causa from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Université de la Franche-Comté of Besançon (France). Ciro Isidoro is Visiting Professor at Siriraj Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University of Bangkok (Thailand) and at Department of Cell Biology, Oklahoma University Health Science Center (OKC, US). He is Editor for numerous journals, including Autophagy, Molecular Carcinogenesis, J. Molecular Signaling, Frontiers in Endocrinology and Ageing, BMC Cancer, and is Co-Editor-in-Chief of J Traditional and Complementary Medicine. Dr Ciro Isidoro’s research interest is primarily focused on the role of the autophagy-lysosomal degradation pathway in neurodegenerative diseases and on involvement of the endocytic and exocytic pathways in neuronal plasticity.
