Biography & Research:
Puja Agarwal, Ph.D., is a post-doctoral fellow at the Rush Institute of Healthy Aging, Internal medicine, Rush University Medical Center. She obtained her PhD in Human Nutrition from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014 where her worked focused on role of metals in human diseases primarily cancer. In her post-doctoral training, Dr. Agarwal worked on the project investigating relation between various trace metals in brain and Alzheimer’s disease. Her primary area of research is effect of diet, food groups and specific nutrients on Alzheimer’s disease, cognitive and motor decline in older adults. In past years, she has been presenting her work at the Alzheimer’s Association conference. She is currently working on two main projects; one is to determine the role of various trace elements in Alzheimer’s disease neuropathology and to assess various dietary factors associated with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and parkinsonian signs.
