Biography & Research:
Physician-scientist who discovered gingipains from Porphyromonas gingivalis in Alzheimer's disease brains and published mechanistic evidence of how this could lead to hallmark AD pathology (Dominy, et al. 2019). Founded a company, Cortexyme, to develop small-molecule inhibitors against gingipains, with one gingipain inhibitor, COR388, currently in a large Phase 2/3 clinical trial to test its safety and efficacy in treating AD.
