Biography & Research:
After completing the medical training in internal medicine and geriatrics in 2005, a speciality in medical education led me to a master's degree, focusing on the evaluation of how doctors and students make decisions under uncertainty.
In 2012, complementary training in Sleep Medicine was started, from which the title of specialist by the World Association of Sleep Medicine was received in 2015. The Ph.D. in sleep medicine and ageing was completed in 2018.
Since 2014, I collaborate with the data analysis of the 10/66 Dementia Research Group Population-Based Cohort Study, from the King’s College in London. As a result, I have developed a systematic review/meta-analysis published in the World Alzheimer Report. My interest in dementia-related research was followed by a position as the principal investigator in a Phase 3 international multicentre clinical trial testing a novel therapeutic approach in the early stage Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, I am currently conducting a meta-analysis focused on a pharmacological intervention for insomnia.
In 2017, I started to develop a career as a consultant and researcher at the Health Technology Assessment Unit / Institute of Education and Health Sciences, at the Oswaldo Cruz German Hospital, together with the Brazilian Ministry of Health. Moreover, for five years I was a teaching assistant in the online postgraduate course "Principles and Practice of Clinical Research" at Harvard Medical School / Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Recently, I also developed an innovative educational project derived from the experience as a student at the "Medical Teaching, Learning and Innovation" course, promoted by professors from Harvard University and by the Lemann Foundation.
Collaborating in diverse academic and clinical contexts, with the objective of benefiting the population, through an interdisciplinary approach, has been the focus of my professional activities.
