Biography & Research:
I am Dr. SK Chand Basha, currently working as Post doctoral research fellow (PDF) in the department of Biotechnology, KL (Deemed to be university), Andhra Pradesh, India. I have done my PhD in Zoology from Acharya Nagarjuna University, India. After my PhD, I have filed shifted from Zoology to Biotechnology with Neurosciences as the core research theme. The main objective of my research is to discover novel pathophysiological phenomena of Alzheimer's disease, which paves the way for the discovery of novel therapeutic strategies. Currently, I am in a process of working on the pathophysiological role of microglial based neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's disease. A novel hypothesis has been proposed by us regarding the amelioration of Aβ degradation by Triggering receptors expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2), which are the microglial receptors in Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
In my academic journey, I have received several awards - Young Researcher Award (2022) [from InSc, India] ; Innovation in Education award (2021) [from Research Gateway, India] ; Junior Scientist Award (2019) [from ABAP, India] and others. I have received ISN Travel Award 2022 [ISN (International society for neurochemistry)] to attend the ISN-APSN 2022 Meeting in Honolulu, USA. I also received Travel Award from IBRO (International Brain Research Organization) - APRC (Asia/Pacific Regional Committee) BHU (Banaras Hindu University) to participate in the IBRO-APRC Associate School of Neuroscience. I am the reviewer for several international journals. Besides research, on a societal note, through my You tube academic channel (https://youtube.com/@DrChandBashaShaik), I have delivered so far 113 online classes on various themes in Biology for the benefit of students and aspirants who are preparing for various PhD entrance exams and other competitive exams. My parents struggled a lot in fulfilling my PhD dream, I want to contribute a bit for the upliftment of needy students. I believe that though my mother left me, her blessings are always with me. I am thankful to God for showing me the right direction.
