Amsterdam, The Netherlands and San Antonio, TX, USA – International publisher IOS Press and the Editors-in-Chief of the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease (JAD) are pleased to announce that with a 51.04 rating, the Journal has achieved a ranking of #18 on the Index Copernicus Top 100 Journals list (http://journals.indexcopernicus.com/toprank.php).

Journals on the Index Copernicus Top 100 list are evaluated for scientific, editorial and technical quality, scientific significance of the published material, currency, educational value, international availability and regularity of publication.

The Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease continues to strengthen and build on its lead as the most prolific and highly cited journal in the Alzheimer’s disease (AD) field. Its prestigious editorial board is led by two internationally acknowledged experts in the field:

Editor-in-Chief George Perry, PhD, Professor of Biology, Dean of College of Sciences, University of Texas at San Antonio, is distinguished as one of the top Alzheimer's disease researchers (http://iospress.metapress.com/content/v932x18k23300844/fulltext.pdf) with over 800 publications and one of the top 100 most-cited scientists in Neuroscience & Behavior. He served as President of the American Association of Neuropathologists.

Editor-in-Chief Mark A. Smith, PhD, Professor of Pathology, Case Western Reserve University, is recognized as one of the world's top 100 Alzheimer's disease investigators according to a recent study (http://iospress.metapress.com/content/v932x18k23300844/fulltext.pdf). He also serves as Executive Director of the American Aging Association.

George Perry and Mark A. Smith commented, “It is extremely rewarding to see continuing evidence of the Journal’s increasing value to AD researchers and academic physicians. It is significant that since its inclusion in Index Copernicus in 2009, the Journal is already ranked so highly in comparison to the world’s top scientific and medical journals.”

“Our primary goal is to promote the understanding of AD by building on the discoveries of the past, advancing research to identify preventive methods and improve treatment and working towards finding a cure,” stated Perry and Smith. “The dedication of the entire editorial board, contributing authors and our publisher, IOS Press, has been the key to the Journal’s success.”
