Biography & Research:
Dr. Krista L. Lanctôt is a clinical pharmacologist, having received her PhD from the Department of Pharmacology, University of Toronto in 1998, with additional training in pharmacoepidemiology. She is currently a Senior Scientist in the Brain Sciences Research Program of the Sunnybrook Research Institute of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, the Head of Neuropsychopharmacology Research and the Executive Director of the Medical Outcomes and Research in Economics (MORE®) Research Centre, a research group focusing on outcomes research. She is a Full Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Pharmacology/ Toxicology, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Lanctôt is an active researcher in clinical pharmacology and has published over 200 manuscripts. Her research has focused on optimizing the pharmacotherapy of neuropsychiatric symptoms such as cognitive and mood symptoms associated with dementia, post-stroke and with coronary artery disease and dementia. Her group uses biomarkers, pharmacologic challenge, neuroimaging and genetics to further understand these symptoms and target pharmacotherapy. She was an Editor for the Cochrane Collaboration and sits on numerous national and international panels, participates in the development of research diagnostic criteria and clinical practice guidelines related to these issues. She also teaches at undergraduate and graduate levels through her appointment at the University of Toronto.
