Biography & Research:
Dr. Koji Abe is 59 years old man, and is currently Professor and Chairman of Neurology at Okayama University Medical School in Japan. He graduated Tohoku University School of Medicine (MD), and then got PhD there. Professor Koji Abe has been publishing more than 550 papers on neurology and translational neurosciences, and has been a member of the executive committee of Japanese Neurological Society and Japan Stroke Society for long time. His main interests are stroke, dementia, ALS, SCA and many other degenerative disorders. He currently discovered a causative gene of a new ALS/SCA crossroad mutation Asidan (also called SCA36). He is also currently serving as the Presidents of Vas-Cog Japan and Vas-Cog Asia, both of which are dedicated for vascular factors in Alzheimer’s disease.
