Biography & Research:
Donald Primerano, Ph.D., is Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of Biochemistry & Microbiology at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University (Huntington WV). He obtained his Ph.D. in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Duke University in 1976 and received a postdoctoral training in yeast genetics in the Department of Microbiology at Michigan State University in 1982. He joined the faculty at Marshall University in 1982 as an assistant professor. He serves as the Co-Director of the Genomics and Bioinformatics Core Facility (GABC) and as a member of WV-INBRE Administrative Core and WV Cancer Genomics Steering Committee. His primary research interests are in the discovery of cancer and chronic disease susceptibility genes using genomic re-sequencing, discrete filtration, expression profiling and bioinformatic approaches.
