Biography & Research:
Miguel Gago (37 years-old, MD) is assistant at the School of Health Science, University of Minho and Neurologist physician in the Department of Neurology of Hospital da Senhora da Oliveira-EPE, Guimarães. His main scientific interests are gait and postural control in neurodegenerative disorders where he is doing research at the ICVS/University of Minho and Center Algoritmi, School of Engineering/University of Minho.
He serves as coordinator of the R&D Department in the public hospital, with special interest on clinical trials. Member of the International Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Society since 2012, and elected President of the Portuguese scientific society of Movement Disorders (SPDMov) in 2015.
Worked as clinical assistant at Medicine School of University of Porto between 2007 and 2011, specialising on movement disorders and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) in 2007, doing a post-graduation fellowship in Neurozentrum, Kiel, Germany. Honourable mention from Bial® in 2011 for his research in DBS. Principal investigator and co-Investigator in dementia and movement disorders clinical trials and European Huntington’s Disease Network. Published 21 peer-reviewed research articles and serves as Ad hoc reviewer in clinical Neurology journals.
