Biography & Research:
I have been working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate for more than 2 years in the laboratory of Dr. Michaela Jansen from the Department of Cell Physiology and Molecular Biophysics at the Texas Tech Univ. HSC (TTUHSC). I earned my MD from India and an MS and PhD in Pharmacology and Neuroscience from TTUHSC. So far, I have authored 10 original research articles and 15 research abstracts published in peer-reviewed scientific journals of international circulation. I also serve as a reviewer and referee for Current Molecular Pharmacology and Journal of Neurochemistry.
My research mainly focuses on elucidating structure/function of receptors from the Cys-loop superfamily, broadly known as pentameric ligand-gated ion channels. I use diverse techniques in molecular biology, biophysics and protein biochemistry, including photoaffinity labeling, electrophysiology, protein purification and crystallographic studies, ligand-receptor interactions.
