Biography & Research:
Nagato Kuriyama was born in Arcadia California, USA, in 1965. I received the M.D. degree and the Ph.D. degree from the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine (KPUM), Kyoto, Japan, in 1992 and 1999, respectively. Since 1992, I was the senior clinical staff of Department of Neurology at Kyoto Second Red Cross Hospital. In 1995, I was a Graduate student of Department of Neurology and Immunology at KPUM.
From 1997 to 2000, I was a postdoctoral research fellow of Brain Tumor Research Center at University of California SanFrancisco (UCSF), USA. I was mainly interested in gene therapy and its efficacy/ signal pathway mediated by several viral vectors based on animal model. In 1998, I was recipient of the Young Researchers Award of Uehara memorial Foundation.
From 2005 to 2020,Kuriyama N. has been an Associate Professor of Department of Neurology, and Department of Epidemiology for Community health and Medicine at KPUM, and a member of the board-certified neurologist and clinical instructor of Japanese Society for Neurology.
From 2013 to 2014, N.Kuriyama studied at MPH, School of Public Health, Harvard Medical School, USA, where he learned statistical epidemiology.
In 2021, Kuriyama N. was promoted as a Principal Professor in the Department of Social Health Medicine, Shizuoka Graduate University of Public Health.
Currently, Kuriyama N is engaged in research, education and clinical practice as Principal Investigator of the Department of Social Health Medicine.
Kuriyama N's current research interests are the area of intracranial atherosclerosis, cognitive impairment, chronic inflammation, brain infarction and clinical epidemiology.
