Biography & Research:
My research is over a spectrum of disciplines, which include Neuroscience, Biochemistry and Nutrition. These research programs focus on understanding mechanisms underlying the neuronal dysfunction and degeneration of Alzheimer’s disease with particular focus on preventing the accumulation of beta amyloid within the brain, using invitro and invivo approaches. Collectively, these research trying to reduce the production and aggregation of beta amyloid in an effort to prevent or lessen the progression of the disease. Particular research interests are
• Identifying the efficacy of short chain fatty acids on the regulation of the production and degradation of beta amyloid.
• Identifying the efficacy of medium chain fatty acids on the regulation of the production and degradation of beta amyloid
• Elucidating the mechanistic insight of dysfunctional mitochondria due to amyloid beta (Aβ).
