Biography & Research:
Torbjörn Persson is currently doing postdoctoral research in the lab of Dr. Thomas Sakmar at The Rockefeller University, New York City. He is working in a project funded by the Pfizer Centers for Therapeutic Innovation initiative to develop a technology platform to produce specially engineered mAbs that recognize various discrete conformational states in transient protofibril intermediates. In addition he studies RNA expression in single cells using a highly multiplexed RNA in situ hybridization method called MERFISH.
His Ph.D. studies were mainly focused on the endogenous antioxidant Thioredoxin-1, the cleaved product Trx80, and their role of the proteins in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer Disease.
