Biography & Research:
1985 – now: Employed at IRCCS-Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche "Mario Negri", Milan, Italy.
The IRCCS-Istituto di Ricerche farmacologiche "Mario Negri" is a not-for-profit biomedical research organization (http://www.marionegri.it/en_US/home).
1989 M.Sc. degree, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Milan.
1990 Fellowship (awarded by the European Science Foundation) spent at the School of Pharmacy, University of London, in the Dept. of Pharmacology.
1995-2009 Head of the “Synaptic Transmission” Unit at “Mario Negri” Institute, with a main focus on the effects of neurotransmitters and drugs acting in the CNS, studying their interactions with receptors and transporters.
2010-now: Head of the the laboratory of “Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics” (PD-PK lab), with an additional focus on the PK characterization of drugs and metabolites, by different analytical techniques including HPLC-MS. PD-PK lab is committed to a better integration of these two major branches of pharmacology to study possible therapeutics strategies, in particular for relevant neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. The lab is also dedicated to the development and application of new analytical assays to measure drugs, proteins, therapeutic antibodies and endogenous biomarkers.
