Epidemiology of dementia, minority aging, post-acute care of older adults with dementia
Biography & Research:
I am an Assistant Professor in the Division of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). I received my PhD in gerontology from the University of Kentucky in 2014 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in minority health at UTMB in 2016. My research is focused on the epidemiology of dementia and cognitive decline in Hispanic populations. I also study the role of cognition in the progression and recovery from physical frailty, and post-acute care of older adults diagnosed with dementia.
