Biography & Research:
Dr. Sharmistha Dey is Associate Professor in Department of Biophysics, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. Her area of research is on proteins and peptides of biological significance: bio-markers of age associated diseases; neurological disease, cancer. She has developed some very important serum protein as a marker in age associated disease like cancer and neurodegenerative disease in the preliminary stage. She has published her works in various reputed high indexed journals. Her research papers have also been awarded thrice in AIIMS excellence award. Her national and international standing among his peers is also reflected by the fact that she has reviewed several important scientific papers of National and International Journals. From her research work she has enlightened that serum protein can be a potent marker for Alzheimer’s disease, which could be detected by label free surface plasmon resonance in very convenient technique. She is currently working on development of therapeutic agent against Alzheimer’s disease from plant products as well as synthetic peptide by targeting selective proteins.
