Akira Homma, MD
Graduated from the Jikei University School of Medicine in 1973. After working at Director, Center for Dementia Care Research and Practice in Tokyo, Department Director, Department of Psychiatry, Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology, Lecturer, Department of Psychiatry, St. Marianna University School of Medicine, visiting associate, Cytogenetic Laboratory in Aarhus, Denmark, have been the director, Otafuku Memory clinic since 2009. The background is geriatric psychiatry. Constructed the guideline for the diagnosis, treatment and care for persons with dementia first in Japan. Also, developed an educational program for primary care physicians which has been conducted since 2005 by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. In addition, served as the immediate past president of Japan Society for Geriatric Psychiatry and Japan Society for Dementia Care and a temporary member of a panel for Long term Care Insurance, Social Security Council, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
