Biography & Research:
Luigi Ferini-Strambi earned his degree in medicine at the State University in Milan, Italy and he completed a fellowship in the Sleep Disorders Center at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, USA in 1984. He is currently Full Professor of Neurology at the Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Milan, Italy. Professor Ferini-Strambi is the Chair of the Dept. of Neurology, Scientific Institute H San Raffaele-Turro, Milan and the Director of the Sleep Disorders Centre.
He is the Field Editor of “Sleep Medicine” journal, and Member of the Editorial Board of “Journal of Neurology”, and “Behavioral Neurology”.
He is frequent reviewer for “Neurology”, “Sleep”, “Journal of Sleep Research”, “Journal of Neurology”, “Brain”, “Lancet Neurology”.
Professor Ferini-Strambi is Past-President of the Italian Association of Sleep Medicine and the the Past-Secretary of the International RBD Study Group.
He is currently the President of the World Association of Sleep Medicine Society.
He has published 287 full papers in International Journals, on various neurological topics
(Scopus H-index: 56). The main researches of Professor Ferini-Strambi are on the field of sleep-related movement disorders, REM sleep behavior disorder and neurodegenerative disorders.
