Biography & Research:
Sebastian Wärmländer: received a PhD in Biophysics from Stockholm University in 2003. Mainly an NMR spectroscopist, I employ a range of spectroscopic and imaging techniques to study molecules of biological relevance such as amyloid-forming proteins, non-canonical nucleic acids, environmental toxins, and medical drugs. In addition to biophysics, I pursue a PhD in archaeology at UCLA, where I combine biophysical techniques with 3D-imaging methods to investigate forensic and archaeological objects and skeletal remains. My ongoing doctoral research deals with such analysis of Viking Age material that colleagues and I excavated at Mosfell, Iceland.
