Biography & Research:
Rebecca E.K. MacPherson, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Brock University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Health Biosciences from Brock University in 2013 and received a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph where she studied metabolic diseases, such as obesity and insulin resistance, and the relationship to brain health. Dr. MacPherson’s research is primarily focused on investigating the link between metabolic diseases and the development of Alzheimer’s disease. She is currently working to determine the sequence of events leading to increased beta-secretase content and activity with obesity and insulin resistance as well as routes to provide effective treatment and prevention strategies.
