Biography & Research:
Claudia Suemoto, MD PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Geriatrics at University of Sao Paulo Medical School. She obtained her PhD at the same institution about the association between dementia and atherosclerosis using morphometric measures in autopsy samples. She also has a Master in Epidemiology and a postdoctoral fellowship from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She is currently one of the coordinators of the Brain Bank of the Brazilian Aging Brain Study Group, which is the largest brain bank in Latin America. Dr. Suemoto also works as an epidemiologist at the Longitudinal Study of Adult Health, where she investigates risk factors for cognitive impairment and decline. In 2016, she received the L'Oreal UNESCO For Women in Science award in Brazil.
