Biography & Research:
Hongxing Wang, M.D. & Ph.D., is Director of Section of Neuropsychiatric Disorder of Department of Neurology, Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University at Beijing China. He obtained his Ph.D. in Psychiatry from Shanghai Second Medical University (now School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai China) in 2005 and received postdoctoral fellowships in the Department of Neurology of Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, the Department of Psychiatry at University of Manitoba, the Department of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he laid the foundation for his research in cognitive disorder and gut microbiota. Also he successfully joined a graduate program on immunology in the Department of Immunology at University of Manitoba. Dr. Wang has published more than 60 papers in refereed journals, including J Alzheimers Dis, Glia, Current Alzheimer Research, Behav Brain Res, Brain Res, etc. Dr. Wang as a nominated member has served Chinese Medical Association, Chinese Medical Doctor Association etc for his social responsibilities with his expertise domains. Now, Dr. Wang is leading and integrating clinic, research, education, rehabilitation, and public outreach for neuropsychiatric disorders by utilizing multi-facet infrastructures at Capital Medical University. Dr. Wang’s research is primarily focused on how gut microbiota affect Alzheimer’s disease at molecular level, especially utilizing the translational medicine route to further understand brain dysfunction, and his work covers the lab to bedside, and to society. And his working team has been supported by different parties, and he is on the way to find the potential and possible effective treatment for improving brain cognition.
