Biography & Research:
Simon Gelman is a principal scientist at Psychogenics, Inc. He received his PhD degree in Biology from The University of Maryland in 2007. He then did a postdoctoral fellowship in the Neuroscience Department at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is interested in synaptic plasticity deficits in transgenic animal models of various neurodegenerative diseases and development of preclinical assays for testing novel therapeutic compounds. He utilizes electrophysiological methods, including patch clamp electrophysiology and field recordings. His general interests lie in fields of Alzheimer's and Huntington's diseases.
