Biography and Research:
Dr. Clara E. Isaza is an Assistant Professor in the Public Health Program, at Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU), Puerto Rico. She obtained her Ph.D. in Biophysics with focus on protein crystallography at The Ohio State University, graduating on 2005. Afterwards Dr. Isaza moved to México, where she was appointed as Assistant Professor for the Biological Sciences College, at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León until 2008, when she moved to Puerto Rico. In Puerto Rico, Dr. Isaza completed a postdoctoral training (PHSU) in breast cancer epigenomic changes in Puertorican patients. In 2015 she started collaborating with the Public Health Program (PHSU) where she is now in a tenure track position as Assistant Professor. She works in the analysis of biological data using mathematical optimization models. Dr. Isaza is interested in study posible relations between flaviviridae virus infections and an increased risk for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Diseases.
