Biography & Research:
Maria Vassilaki, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. She obtained her M.D. degree from the Medical School- School of Health Sciences of the University of Crete (Greece). Then she pursued her M.P.H. from the School of Public Health, Health Science Center at Houston (University of Texas, TX) and her Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health (University of California, Los Angeles, CA). She has a thorough training in epidemiologic methodology, which she has practiced and taught. Dr. Vassilaki has worked extensively in cohort research projects and currently her research interests are in aging research, i.e., cognitive health, the epidemiology of cognitive decline and its risk factors, aging and cognition, mild cognitive impairment, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, neuroimaging and Alzheimer’s disease, Alzheimer's disease biomarkers, chronic diseases and multimorbidity.
