Biography & Research:
. I have a broad background in biochemistry and cell biology, with specific training and expertise in the structure, assembly and immunology of amyloids. My research includes studies on amyloid structural polymorphisms, amyloid immunology and immunotherapy and the molecular mechanisms of amyloid pathogenesis. As PI or co-Investigator on several university- and NIH-funded grants, I laid the groundwork for the proposed research by developing a panel of 28 distinct monoclonal antibodies against Aß that differ in their immunoreactivity against several polymorphic structures of amyloid aggregates. My laboratory also has the necessary experience in the immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence characterization of amyloid in human and transgenic mouse brain.
