Biography & Research:
Neelam Younas is a PhD student at University of Medicine Goettingen, Germany working on Neurodegenerative diseases in Prion Research lab.
She received her B.S from University of Punjab, Lahore-Pakistan. She was awarded Gold medal for excellent performance in Bachelor and completed her M.S with first position form 3 Universities (University of Santiago de Compostela-Spain, University of Punjab, Pakistan, Georg-August University Goettingen-Germany). She started exploring neurodegenerative diseases during her Master when she came to know in a proteomics course that a single protein could self-replicate and lead to devastating diseases called Prion diseases, which was the start of her journey of curiosity that how a protein could replicate by its own leading to fatal diseases. Her interest in the field of neurodegenerative diseases has developed so much during the last years, while she has been part of German center for Neurodegenerative diseases at Universitätsmedizin Göttingen-Germany during her Master Thesis and then for PhD.
Currently exploring the role of RNA binding proteins in aggregation of pathological hallmark proteins associated with different neurodegenerative diseases using Proteomics and interactomics as major tools.
