Biography & Research:
Dr Oliveira (PhD, MSC, BSc, RN) has more than ten years of clinical and research experience in the provision of long-term care for people with dementia and their families in the community. She has also experience with research in health promotion, disease prevention and applied psychometrics. She was awarded her PhD by the University of Nottingham (UK) in 2016 and, since then, Dr Oliveira has worked as part of multiple international post-doctoral research projects exploring ways by which the quality of life of people with dementia and their family carers can be improved, using a wide range of research methods. She is currently working as Research Fellow for a large international programme aimed at Strengthening Responses to Dementia in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (STRiDE - www.stride-dementia.org). She is a co-editor of the book 'New Developments in Dementia Prevention Research: State of the Art and Future Possibilities'. She is also the author of the 'Dementia Quality of Life Scale for Older Family Carers - DQoL-OC', an age- and dementia-specific scale to measure the quality of life of older family carers of people with dementia.
