Biography & Research:
Julia Chosy earned her B.A. in natural sciences from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts where her senior research project examined the role of chemokine receptors in HIV in the brain. She received an M.S. in microbiology from Duke University in North Carolina where her research involved searching for the host-cell receptor for the protective antigen of Bacillus anthracis. Julia completed her Ph.D. in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her dissertation focused on health correlates and consequences of victimization in chemically addicted criminal offenders. Julia has worked in zoonotic disease surveillance, syndromic surveillance, and public health education focusing on complex national surveys and vital statistics. Currently, she is studying aging and cognition in the Honolulu-Asia Aging Study cohort with the Pacific Health Research and Education Institute.
