Biography & Research:
Xiao-Yu Hou, Ph.D., is tenured full professor in the School of Biological Science and Technology at China Pharmaceutical University. She obtained her B.S. in Pharmaceutical Analysis from China Pharmaceutical University in 1992, her M.S. in Biochemistry from Xuzhou Medical University in 1998, and her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003. She received a postdoctoral fellowship in the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Genetics, Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. She joined China Pharmaceutical University in 2019 from Xuzhou Medical University, where she was the Dean of the School of Basic Medical Sciences and the School of Biological Sciences, and the Director of the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Brain Disease Bioinformation. She was awarded New Century Excellent Talent in University by the Ministry of Education of China, Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contribution and Academic Leader of 333 Program by Jiangsu Province of China. Prof. Hou is also a Principal Investigator at the State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicines and her research is primarily focused on cellular and molecular biology of Alzheimer’s disease and ischemic brain disorders. She is currently working to determine neuronal circuit and molecular events behind olfactory and cognitive impairments at the early stage of Alzheimer’s disease.
