Biography & Research:
Lynne Shinto, N.D., M.P.H, is a Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Obstetrics and Gynecology-Integrative Medicine Division at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). She earned her naturopathic degree from Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA, in 2000 and her Master of Public Health from OHSU in 2006. She is the principal investigator on studies funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the OHSU Foundation that evaluate natural therapies for brain wellness. She has been the principal Investigator on NIH funded studies that evaluate omega-3 fatty acids for Alzheimer’s disease, older individuals who have vascular risk factors for dementia, and depression in multiple sclerosis (MS).
Dr. Shinto is an appointed member of that National Advisory Council for Complementary and Integrative Health at NIH. Research interests include the evaluation of long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, diet, and nutrients in Alzheimer’s disease, Aging, and MS.
