Biography & Research:
The main purpose of my scientific research is to deeper understand the biological mechanisms that underline the degenerative process within the nervous system and find new proteins responsible for pathological changes in the central nervous system. We expect that some of these proteins could help to improve the early diagnosis and prognosis of neurodegenerative diseases (ND) in the future. Because the pathogenesis of AD is complex, the combination of various biomarkers reflecting other pathological processes in the brain may improve the classification of patients with neurodegenerative diseases, which is essential not only in routine clinical practice but also in clinical trials. Furthermore, within the framework of the project ,,Biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease (BIOMARKAPD)" I was involved in the preparation of international recommendations for CSF AD biomarkers in the diagnostic evaluation of mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease. Moreover, an excellent opportunity to gain new experience and knowledge was a foreign internship in one of the reference laboratories for biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease in Germany.
