Biography & Research:
I have a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, a master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a PhD degree in Aging and Chronic Diseases by the Nova Medical School of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. My PhD thesis focused on the role of TOMM40 poly-t polymorphism on Alzheimer's disease etiology via mitochondrial dysfunction.
Working as a scientist for 10+ years, I gained experience in both fundamental, pre-clinical (R&D and Drug Discovery) and clinical research. During this time my research has focused on neurodegenerative diseases, namely Alzheimer’s Disease. In this area, I studied the mechanisms, the biomarkers and new therapies for Alzheimer’s Disease.
