Biography & Research:
PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a focus on Neuroscience, whose studies have centered on three closely related areas:
· Cell Therapy in the CNS
· Adult Neurogenesis
· Pathophysiological mechanisms of Neurodegenerative Diseases such as PD, ALS and MS
Currently, I am part of the group of researchers at the Institute of Neurosciences of the IdISSC of the San Carlos Clinical Hospital headed by Prof. Jorge Matías-Guiu, where I am responsible for the research laboratory in neurobiology.
My area of expertise is the development of experimental models of cerebrovascular pathologies, neurodegenerative diseases (MS, ALS, PD) and in vitro models, as well as extensive knowledge and management of techniques of electronic microscopy, confocal, stereology, generation of experimental models in vitro and in vivo, molecular biology, transfection and cell culture. I have collaborated closely in the development of preclinical trials, which have allowed the development of clinical trials in cerebrovascular diseases such as stroke. Guest Associate Editor for Neurorehabilitation and Guest Associate Editor for Neuroinfectious Diseases in Frotiers Editorial Group. I have also contributed to reviewing international journals such as: Frontiers in Neurology, Frontiers in Immunology, Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology, Brain Research, Neuroscience Methods, Neuroscience Letters, Neurologia-Elsevier, CNS Neuroscience & Therapeutics, Biomaterials, Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology, Journal of Neuroscience, Cell Transplantation, Histology and Histopathology and Virtual Reality.
