Biography & Research:
Dr. Villarejo-Galende was trained as a Neurologist at Hospital 12 de Octubre (Madrid), where he works as an attending neurologist since 2003. He is the Residency Program and Memory Clinic coordinator, and serves as Associate Professor of Neurology at Universidad Complutense (Madrid). His main research interests are the epidemiology of dementia and cognitive impairment, with a focus on identifying prognostic factors that modify disease progression and their impact on mortality. He has also worked in the development of new biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease, and in the characterization of atypical presentations of neurodegenerative disease. He has been involved as principal investigator in several clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disase, and collaborates in many research projects related to cognitive impairment and dementia. He is a member of the Neurosciences Group at I+12 Research Institute (Madrid) and CIBERNED, the spanish network center for biomedical research in neurodegenerative diseases
