Biography & Research:
Aleksandra Popovac is senior lecturer at the University of Belgrade, School of Dental Medicine. She graduated in the School of Dental Medicine, University of Belgrade in 2005, got her master degree in 2009 and PhD in 2018. She is specialist in Prosthetic Dentistry and employed in the Clinic for Prosthetic Dentistry, University of Belgrade since 2010. She published over 30 scientific papers and attended actively many conferences. She is the secretary of the Serbian dental society-dental medicine section, member of IADR and ITI. Her main research field is geriatric dental medicine. More specifically, her focus lies in the examination of the influence of dental and oral health to general health, both in physical and psychological condition, in elderly; in other words, oral health related quality of life in geriatric patients. Her primary research objective is the analysis of dental and/or oral factors as risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease in correlation with genetic, nutritive and other cofactors. In addition, her interests also include, but are not limited to, expanding the knowledge about oral health of people with dementia and providing more options for their dental treatment, especially minimally invasive ones and those resulting with better adaptation. Also, her fields of interest are removable dentistry, dental material colours and special care dentistry.
