Biography & Research:
Stanislav Sutovsky, M.D., Ph.D. is an associate professor at the 1st Department of Neurology, Comenius University and University Hospital in Bratislava. His active research career oriented towards Alzheimer’s disease has started at the Institute of Neuroimmunology Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. Dr. Šutovský gained an invaluable knowledge on the innovative molecular-genetics aspects as well as diagnostic and therapeutical approaches to Alzheimer’s disease pathology and treatment during the several scientific visits at the Department of Neurology, Manchester Royal Infirmary, United Kingdom (1999) and The Max Planck Institute for Structural Molecular Biology in Hamburg, Germany (2000). Dr. Šutovský is the author and co-author of more than 40 in extenso articles, 2 chapters in monographs and one monograph. His works have been cited more than 80 times (WOS and Scopus). He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Neurology for Practice and since 2020 has been the section editor of the Journal of Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Šutovský participates in the creation and updating of diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines in the field of dementia, with the main focus on the development and validation of biomarkers of the early phase of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Dr. Šutovský has participated on more than 10 clinical trials focused on Alzheimer’s disease (phase I, II, III) and was investigator of another 6 successfully completed clinical research projects.
