Biography & Research:
My lab focuses on developing 3D tissue engineered culture systems to allow for improved screening of possible therapeutic interventions for disorders marked by high levels of neuroinflammation, such as Alzheimer's disease and severe autism. This research is an outgrowth of my expertise in soft tissue regeneration, PEG-based materials, and tissue engineered disease models. My research efforts have culminated in > 85 journal articles
published or in press. I have been recognized for the quality and impact of my research program through several honors and awards, including the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and election into the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineers (AIMBE).
