Biography & Research:
Dr. Toru Yamashita is 45 years old man, and is currently Associate Professor of Neurology at Okayama University Medical School in Japan. He graduated Okayama University School of Medicine (M.D.), and then got Ph.D. title from Okayama University under direction of Professor Koji Abe. Dr. Toru Yamashita has been publishing more than 250 papers on neurology and translational neurosciences. His main interests are stroke, dementia, ALS, and many other degenerative disorders. He successfully showed that free radical scavenger, edaravone, prevented not only the hemorrhagic transformation in post-stroke rats, but also progress of cognitive disfunction in Alzheimer`s disease (AD) mouse model with chronic cerebral hypoperfusion. He is also currently serving as Director of ISCBFM, and General Secretary of Vas-Cog Asia, both scientific fields are closely linking with vascular factors in AD.
