Biography & Research:
Mrs. Marina Makri has a MA in Counseling Psychology and Psychotherapy and also BSc and MSc in Biological Science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Faculty of Sciences, School of Biology. She is a PhD candidate in School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She works at the Alzheimer Hellas as a coordinator and responsible for all the Erasmus+ European projects, since 2015. She is the coordinator of an Erasmus+ KA2 project “Genetic counseling in European universities: The case of neurodegenerative diseases”, in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She works as an external collaborator in Biomedical Research Foundation (BRFAA) of the Academy of Athens and the School of Medicine of Washington University. She is a senior researcher on issues of dementia, supporting family caregivers and genetic counseling, and she has taken part in many European meetings and in Training Courses for Caregivers and Patient Advocates. The last years, she is a member of the Hellenic Society for Neurosciences, the Federation of European neuroscience societies (fens), a member of INTERDEM Academy and a member of the 5th European Health Parliament. As part of her advocacy work, she is one of the five board members of the Greek Carers Network and the main representative of the Alzheimer Hellas in all the events organized by Eurocarers. She has attended various conferences and meetings and she has taken part in with presentations.
