Biography & Research:
Tae Kim, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST). He completed his medical education at Kyung Hee University before undertaking a residency and fellowship in psychiatry. Seeking to further his research, he moved to the United States for a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard University. There, he specialized in optogenetics, focusing on sleep and brain oscillation. His clinical research spans various sleep disorders, contributing to a broader understanding of these complex conditions. Currently, Dr. Kim's research is centered on exploring how neuromodulation, the gut-brain axis, and nutrition can influence the development and progression of Alzheimer's disease. Through his work, he aims to bridge the gap between neurological theory and practical, patient-centered solutions for Alzheimer's and related disorders. His dedicated approach combines a profound understanding of psychiatric conditions with a commitment to advancing the field of neurodegenerative disease research.
