Biography & Research:
My career began working with rat models of metabolic syndrome and diabetes with pharmacological interventions under the guidance of two mentors specializing in physiology and biochemistry. I am currently a postdoctoral scholar working with Dr. Caleb Finch who has expanded my interests to neurobiology and aging. My work focuses on antioxidant regulation and ApoE allele contributions to Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis. Specifically, I investigate how iron metabolism, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant defense alters lipid rafts, the site of amyloid processing. My long-term goals are to become a tenure track faculty and continue working on Alzheimer’s disease and aging.
