Biography & Research:
Aderonke Agboji is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Northern British Columbia, Canada, and a nurse with over 20 years of experience in long-term care, specializing in improving the quality of life for older adults, particularly those with dementia. She holds dual master’s degrees in Dementia Care and Leadership and Management, enabling her to implement innovative care practices and lead compassionate, effective teams. In addition to her bedside expertise, Agboji is a strong advocate for improving care standards for older people in long-term care settings. Her focus on dementia care ensures that the unique needs of vulnerable populations are met with empathy and professionalism.
Currently a Doctoral candidate, her research titled "A Multimethod Approach to Mitigating Apathy among Residents in Long-Term Care Facilities and Community-Dwelling Older Adults in Northern British Columbia" explores strategies to reduce apathy and improve engagement among older adults in long-term care and community settings. This work aims to offer practical interventions that can be applied both in rural Northern BC and globally. Her research interests encompass aging, dementia, comorbidities, gerontechnology, mental health, artificial intelligence, and health service delivery and policy.
