Biography & Research:
Yu Hayashi received his PhD degree from the University of Tokyo in 2008. From 2008, he joined the RIKEN Brain Science Institute as a postdoctoral researcher. Since 2013, he was appointed as a principal investigator at the International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine (WPI-IIIS), University of Tsukuba. From 2020, he has been appointed as a Professor at the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University and Visiting Professor at the International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine (WPI-IIIS), University of Tsukuba. From 2022, he has been appointed as a Professor at the Graduate School of Science, University of Tokyo. He addresses the mechanisms and roles of sleep using mice and nematodes.
