Biography & Research:
Aswathy Peethambaran Mallika, PhD., is a Postdoctoral Research fellow at the Department of Pathology, Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, Baltimore, Maryland. She obtained her PhD in Neuorology studying the genetic, biochemical and cellular risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease and Frontotemporal dementia from Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, Trivandrum, India. Following her doctoral training, she has received the National Postdoctoral fellowship from the Govt. of India to study the immunogenetic perspectives of Alzheimer’s disease and Frontotemporal dementia at Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology, Trivandrum, India. Later she moved to the United States to join the Wong Laboratory at JHMI where she is working towards developing an AAV based disease modifying therapy for treating the devastating disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
